Platinum Credit Cards

Why choose platinum credit cards over a regular credit card?  There are many reasons why you might want to have a platinum credit card, but there are still things you should compare before making the ultimate decision.  First you need to compare the companies that have platinum credit cards.  Most companies will have this type of credit card, but is it always going to be a good deal?  Credit card companies do try and offer competitive options to make it a little harder to decide, and most of us have a favourite bank we like to deal with.  Below you will find several reasons for why you need to compare credit card types and banks.

First all platinum credit cards are going to offer you an introductory purchase rate, balance transfer rate, interest free days, cash back/ rewards, and a common APR.  While so of the credit cards may not offer all of these key features they will offer some of them.  It really depends on what looks better to you.  For instance American Express is offering 56 days of free interest, up to 1.5% cash back after three months, with 3% for the first three months, and an APR of 14.9%.  The Barclay credit card is offering 0% for the first three months, balance transfer of 0% for the first three months, 56 days of interest free, discounts on flights and other deals, and the same APR.  So right here you have two cards that are offering different ways to get discounts.  The thing you have to remember is go with the credit card company you trust, the one that offers the best deal for you, and the credit card company that has the better policies.  Credit cards have come out with something called a universal default, which can be damaging to your credit history.  As long as you understand the type of credit card you are applying for even with platinum credit cards you should be able to find the one that suits you best.

Some platinum credit card companies have annual fees.  This means that in addition to the APR and any late fees you may incur you will have an annual fee.  This fee may seem like a little too much to pay for a credit card, but it can also offer you more protection.  Typically someone who pays the annual fee gets a few more benefits from the card in order to have more protection for things like fraudulent charges.  With the Barclay card you will not see an annual fee; however you can ask to sign up for their protection options.  With a platinum credit card you are usually already enrolled once you accept the card.  The protection services help with fraud, identity and purchase delivery protection, text alert service, and worldwide telephone assistance.  These features make the credit card more secure and are not always apart of the regular credit card agreement.  Platinum credit cards try to offer the best that is out there for personal needs.
